What to do if you have a rear end collision
Rear End Collision Attorney Michigan
I just had a rear-end collision car crash, what do I do?
First and foremost contact the police and if you are injured and ask for medical assistance immediately. Once you and everyone in your vehicle and any other vehicles are safe and out harm’s way, we recommend a few things. First, contact the police and make a police report. Second, get as much information from the at fault driver that caused your accident as possible. Things like their name, VIN number, plate number, address, phone, insurance information, etc. Third, contact your auto-insurance company and advise them of your accident immediately. Set up a claim for any damage done to your car. Also, set up no fault or PIP claim if you have been injured. This type of claim entitles you to get things like wage loss, medical bills, household help payment, medical mileage reimbursement, nursing care, etc. If this was a hit and run contact your insurance immediately and give them as much information as possible right away. Keep copies if everything you send them, document what you send and when.
Once all this preliminary stuff is take care of, it is time to start thinking about whether you need an auto accident attorney to represent you on this matter. You may not feel comfortable dealing with your no fault claim yourself, especially if you feel the insurance company is not paying you for everything you are entitled to. You certainly may want to talk to an attorney about making an injury claim against the at fault driver. You may be entitled to compensation for your pain and suffering. In our opinion it is best to get information from a personal injury attorney who specializes in auto law. That way you know all your rights are protected.
The above is not intended to be legal advise. Every situation is different and requires a different set of actions. Please contact an attorney immediately if you need legal help or advice regarding your auto accident.
