Synthetic Marijuana Dangerous
The Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch website posted an article today that you can read here:
Botsford Trauma Doc: Spice Use Signs Include
Isolation, Over-Eating, Irrational Behavior
Dr. Sanford Vieder, who directs the trauma center at Botsford Hospital, tells the paper that ‘synthetic marijuana’ is a misnomer for the drug K2, now legally sold in Michigan stores.
While his hospital has not had a large number of Spice victims, he has seen enough cases to join the call for the drug to be banned from Michigan stores.
The article notes that “spice is legally sold in Michigan, because the compound is not specifically banned under state law. The substance is packaged as “incense”, with wrappers that are generally labeled with warnings that it is not for consumption.”
Vieder said parents should be aware of potential drug use. Signs may include isolation and irrational behavior, including violence. Vieder also pointed to continual over-eating and the inability to reach satiety or a sense of being full is seen in Spice users.
