No-Fault Auto Insurance Fight Revving Up
The Detroit Free Press reports that a battle is brewing in Lansing over No-Fault Insurance Reform.
The article states, “…a clash in Lansing (will take place) this year between an auto insurance industry that wants to limit its liabilities and boost profits and medical providers who charge some of their highest rates for medical care as a result of auto accidents.
“It’s going to be a battle,” state insurance commissioner Kevin Clinton said.
The article continues by stating, “Republican lawmakers have Michigan’s limitless medical care for auto accidents in their cross-hairs as they consider capping lifetime coverage and slashing payments to doctors and hospitals.”
However, injured victims worry that a cap on medical expenses will limit their care. In our experience as personal injury attorneys, we have represented many clients who have relied upon the Michigan Catastrophic Claim Association to provide medical coverage. Limiting the amount of care these severely injured clients receive could be disastrous. We have to ensure that victim’s rights are protected.
