Involved in a hit and run?
Hit & Run
I was involved in a hit and run car accident. Can I get money for my pain and suffering?
Thanks for the question. That may depend on whether you are entitled to Uninsured Motorist (or UM for short) coverage. We did a blog about Uninsured motorist coverage recently that you should read. UM coverage may be available to you from your own policy, the policy of the car you were traveling in, or an automobile insurance policy from a relative who you live with. It may also depend on the contractual language of the policy and how the accident occurred, such as whether there was contact or not with the car you were in, and whether the police were called and if it was reported in a timely manner to the insurance company.
In short, the answer is yes you may have a claim for pain and suffering, but we can’t tell you that until we know all the facts.
Please call, we are always more than happy to discuss these matters free of charge.
