Pedestrian No Fault Benefits
Pedestrian No Fault Benefits
I was hit by a car as a pedestrian and have no medical insurance, what can I do?
Michigan is a No Fault state, which protects pedestrians in a situation like this. You will be entitled to No Fault benefits which include such things as life-long medical coverage, lost wages, household services, nursing care if necessary, mileage for medically related treatment and other benefits. The question is which automobile insurance company pays for that and how do you set it up? The answer depends on your particular situation. Did you have your own car or live with a relative who owns are car? Was the other driver insured? Even if the answer to those questions are both no, you still can get benefits it is just a bit more complicated.
The bottom line is that in most circumstances you will get lifetime medical coverage. You just might need some help in guiding you as to where and how you get that claim set up.
